Pop In Newsletter October 2025
As we move toward the end of the year, we’re reflecting on the strength and courage we witness every day at Pop In. Each woman and child who connects with us brings a story of resilience and a reminder of why safe, ongoing support matters so deeply to address the trauma and isolation of domestic violence and abuse.
It is worth remembering that domestic and family violence thrives in silence. It is also worth remembering that behind every statistic is a name, a mother, a father, a sister, a brother, a daughter, a son, a friend, a life cut short. We believe in the power of community to break that silence, to prevent that violence, to enable all women and children to live without fear. To this end, we invite you to join us, commencing November 25, to participate in 16 Days of Activism, a UN global movement to end gender-based violence and stand with survivors.
Over these 16 days there are several ways to get involved - each one designed to inspire conversations, to build awareness, to create lasting change across the Wingecarribee Shire. I encourage you to start the conversations, to share with your community, your friends, your family, your co-workers, your businesses everyone around you, to take an active step to say no to domestic violence and abuse.
With gratitude,
Vicki Kelley
Chair and Co-Founder
16 Days of Activism
From 25 November to 10 December, Pop In will be posting daily on our Instagram feeds 16 simple, meaningful ways you can get involved. Each action is designed to raise awareness and build a culture of safety and respect for women and children.
One of the most moving actions of the 16 Days will be our Light the Night event on 27 November at 7pm at The Briars Inn, Burradoo. The evening will include a minute’s silence, a community gathering, and a drone capture of our collective stand:
We say NO to domestic violence and abuse.
Sponsor a Lantern - We also invite you to sponsor a lantern for the event. Your donation of $500 will directly support our work here in Wingecarribee shire.
You will also see the 16 ways on posters in various businesses across the community reinforcing a stand against domestic violence and abuse.
No More Empty Shoes Vigil
As part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, Pop In has also been invited to stand among 28 domestic and family violence organisations working together to demand change.
The vigil takes place at 12pm, on Tuesday 25th November at Martin Place, Sydney to honour and remember the women and children who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence in 2025.
$10,000 Grant from Southern Highlands Foundation
This funding will help us expand our Learn and Play and Connect programs, creating more opportunities for women and children to come together to heal, and access the support they need through Pop In’s wrap-around services.
We’re grateful to Southern Highlands Community Foundation for recognising the importance of community-led support for women and families impacted by domestic violence and abuse. Their generosity helps us continue to grow a safe, welcoming space where every woman is met with dignity and care.
Duress donation of security systems
Duress has a clear mission: to leverage technology for the aid of domestic violence victims in Australia. Duress has kindly donated a range of security systems to Pop In, helping provide our clients with peace of mind and a greater sense of safety.
Get Fit, Give Back | $1,400 Raised

Together, they raised an incredible $1,400 from new membership sign-ups, surpassing last year’s results! Thank you to the entire team for your ongoing support and for standing with us to help women and children impacted by domestic violence and abuse.
